Eugenio González Derbez (Spanish: [ewˈxenjo ðeɾˈβes]; born September 2, 1961) is a Mexican actor, comedian, and filmmaker. He was born and raised in Mexico City and expressed interest in acting at an early age, landing his first roles as extras in soap operas at age 12. He later studied at the Mexican Film Institute and the Centro de Educacion Artistica, landing his first television role in the comedy TV series Cachún Cachún Ra Ra!. Derbez made his directing debut in 1997 with a Mexican soap opera named No Tengo Madre.
